Bragging Grandmothers

Once we found out my daughter and son-in-law were expecting their first child, my husband and I got so excited about becoming grandparents. Those of you who are grandparents know exactly what I mean.
Then, for a long time, we thought Cate would be an only child. That is when I noticed something.

Grandmas like to brag.

Why do I say that? Well, Virginia has personalized car license plates. Here's an example of one.

Now, you know me. I wouldn't have any trouble seeing the roads full of cars with Hokie license plates.

Instead, here are some examples of what I've seen, driving around Roanoke.

GMAOFTN
(First I thought this lady was often a grandma. Then
I realized she was actually a grandma of ten.)

GMA 2X

GM X9

(I hope all of you know I'm being silly. I'm just envious of all of them, although after February I could fight the second grandma for her license plate. That's when our second grandchild will be born.)

Do you have a personalized license plate?

Trying to figure out what those plates are trying to say, is great fun, I think. Some are fairly easy but there are some I just can't get. Some make me laugh and some make me angry. I don't have one, by the way. Can't wait to see what yours says when the second little one arrives.------ Shannon

That made me smile today! Oh, congratulations! Another little baby soon to be in the family. How wonderful. Babies are such little miracles and blessings, aren't they?! Do they live quite close to you? Anyway, exciting times.

fun! I do not have a personalized tag. I use to have one of those specialty tags. You know the ones that you pay more for, and the money goes toward whatever the tag is about. I had a Save The Turtles one a few times back. So glad for you on your 2nd.

that's so funny, I never knew. I'm so lousy at reading license plates. Either that or I'm a lousy driver, I can only do one thing at a time.

This blog is so cute. Congrats on soon to become a grandmother for the second time. Same here, my second grandchild is due beginning of April. I have just found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

That first plate looked like "Grandma Often" to me, too! Well, with ten grandbabies, I guess she is! LOL

Haha....I always analyze people's license plates and what it means. You can typically figure out either all their family's initials, # of pets, occupation,etc....Actually, the FBI highly encourages people not to personalize plates....lol not to be a debbie downer or anything. Congrats (again) on being a grandma!

Congrats! Brag away! Since I don't have children, my nieces are what I brag about. And get this, I brag about them more than their own mother! My brother bragged about his girls all the time but since his passing, I have taken up the mantel 10 fold.

Yes, I had LUCKYW for years based on a fun little fictional story our friend had written up, but when I got a new car last year hubby didn't renew it so now I don't even know which car is mine unless I look for the stuff hanging off the rear view mirror!

Congrats on baby number 2!

Merry Christmas Dear Friend! Thank you for your recent kind comments! AND CONGRATULATIONS on the 2nd grandchild!!!! That's awesome! I'd like to see you fight that other G-ma over the license plate ;)
And I feel the exact same way about the uphill/mountain climbing.
I'm so behind and overwhelmed....I pray that we both can accomplish what we need and feel PEACE for this blessed season!

Love/hugs/blessings,
L

How fun....#2 coming. We're holding at one still. I like trying to figure out license plates...want me one but can't make up my mind on the saying.

Congratulations! That is so exciting. Between my hubby and me, we have 10, but only one has been born since we have been together.

I do have a personalized plate and love it... makes finding my non-descript vehicle in the parking lot much easier. LOL
