Decorating with a Vintage Collection

I started collecting souvenir spoons a long time ago. That makes them vintage, right?Friends would give them to me as souvenirs from the wonderful trips they went on. I was jealous appreciated them. At one time I had 2 large racks in my kitchen and a map of the USA in the hall. (It was almost filled with spoons from each state - not that I've been to all of them yet.) When we moved 5 years ago, I gave away the spoon racks and have just displayed dumped the spoons in this basket.

When I started decorating my craft room in European Flair ~ sounds fancy, doesn't it ~ I remembered my spoons. Now I needed a rack to display them. I hope you know that you can find anything at Goodwill if you're willing to wait. This is what I found. (I forgot to take a before picture, but I dry brushed it to give it a more aged look.)

I went through my collection and found 24 spoons from European countries.  My favorite is the Eiffel Tower.

Do any of you have a collection like this? How do you display yours?

Well, you will love meeting people, sharing ideas, and learning so much, no matter your interests. I have a collection of spoons that I inherited and use about ten of them on a regular basis... You have a perfect solution for display.

Thanks for your visit and for leaving a comment.

I love collections and your spoons are GREAT! You know years ago they were so popular, then they went 'out' and now I think all of these 'kitch-y' things are back 'in' BUT, I think if it is something you love and it has meaning to you then it is "IN" - haha! I love that you found the rack at GW -- yep, you can find anything there! Love what you did with it too!

nice collection of spoons - i would so be tempted to convert a handful into a windchime. it's a good thing I don't have access to your spoon basket when you're not looking :) I don't go to the salvation army or goodwill shops very often but do know from prior shopping excursions that they can be a good place to find utensils. In fact I have a half dozen or so silverplate utensils that I truly adore. And at 10 cents each, that's just hard to beat, right? Thank you for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment - i appreciate it so much. Wishing you a wonderful weekend :) Diane

I collected spoons for a while, now that I think of it, haven't traveled to collect any haha (kids) I was thinking of using them to have a tasting party, Pier 1 has great ideas for that!
