JoAnns Bargains

Aren't these the cutest little hangers you've ever seen?
I noticed them at JoAnns when I first saw the back to school stuff. I would have loved these back in the day when I taught third grade (for 14 years). Truthfully, I would have loved them even when I taught middle school math (for 10 years). But since I've retired, I couldn't really justify the price.

I couldn't think of a practical use for these.
Plus I knew I wanted to buy all three.
How could I choose just one from those cute faces?

I like the colors of the crayon.

I like the face on the scissors.

I like the ruler because I'm a former math teacher.

Guess what? Now they're on 70% clearance.
I bought all three of them - didn't have to choose -
for the price of just one.

I still don't know what I'm going to do with them.
But I know I love looking at them!

What have you bought recently -
just because you liked it?

Bag of Magic

I have 4 great-nephews and 3 great-nieces.
(And 2 more on the way, one of each!)
In the past, I've sent them a book for their birthdays.
This year I wanted to do something different.

Zachary recently turned 6.
His grandfather is my brother.
My brother loves magic.

I thought that might make a good gift for Zachary.
I went to Dollar Tree and found everything I needed.

These are sets of magic tricks. I checked each box to make sure they weren't duplicates.

I just liked these glasses, although I also thought he could wear them to further confuse his audience as he performed his magic tricks.

I thought every magician should have a magic wand.
I didn't want a "girly" one.
 I found this at JoAnns.

As I checked out, I saw this bag and knew it would be perfect to hold his goodies.

After his birthday, I received this thank you note.

Didn't he do an outstanding job with his printing?
Kudos to his mama and daddy for teaching him to
write thank you notes, too.

While I was at the beach, I discovered that
my great-niece loves magic, too.
Guess what she's getting for her 6th birthday on September 30?

Little Pieces of Fall

Lots of you have been busy decorating for fall. I love everything about fall, but I just haven't found the time to decorate. However, I did find a few things that put me in the mood to start.

My first little thing is a new dish towel. It caught my eye because it reminded me of all the subway art I've seen in blogland. Maybe I won't mind washing dishes so much with this festive towel hanging around, waiting to help. It was on sale at Joanns.

Isn't this the cutest little pumpkin? And it's useful, too. (I'm sorry you can see the dish drain. At least there aren't any dishes in there! I don't know how to edit pictures.) It's a soap dispenser. You can see I've been using it. I found this hidden stuck in the back of a shelf. I couldn't find any others. It was $4.99, I think, but you know I used my coupon.

My last find is this dish scrubber. It was only a dollar. There was no way I was passing this up.

So there you have my little fall treats. You can tell I've also made up with Joanns, although I don't think she knew we were feuding. (If you don't remember our fight, it was all about those "free dollars" the store gave out this summer.)

I think I'll go wash some dishes.
