Snow(man), snow(man), go away.

If you read yesterday's post, you'll know that I haven't exactly kept up with everyone else in blog land. As my preacher grandfather used to say, "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak."

I want to be just like all of you and make wonderful projects to decorate my home. So, when I saw this at Goodwill, I immediately thought, "This is so easy anybody I can make this."  I bought the snowman prototype (Doesn't that sound impressive?) and forgot about it put it in my tub of January decorations.

Last week - remember, I'm behind - I opened my January tub so I could decorate. This was on top.

My first step to make to copy this was to find the right jar. I was happy when I found a jar that already had a black lid. That was one less thing I would need to paint.

I assumed the inside of the jar had been painted white, so I had my paintbrush in hand and the white paint ready. Imagine my surprise when I took off the lid and discovered this:

The previous snowman builder hadn't painted the jar at all but had stuffed it with sparkly material. If you go back and look very closely at the other pictures, you can see that he does have a certain sparkle to him.

Then, reality hit me like a wet snowball.

First of all, many of you had already begun posting Valentine decorations. Once again, I was behind before I had ever started.
Next, I had snowman decorations that I didn't plan to use. Why would I make something else?

Common sense prevailed. In keeping with my plans to de-clutter and de-stress, the snowman went to Goodwill and the jar went in the trash.

I think I've jinxed us because the snow missed us this week.

Have you changed your mind about any projects?

I think you would benefit from a Pinterest account. If you have one, you should use it. You can collect up ideas of stuff you might want to do and the only space it takes are a few bites on the computer. When you are in the mood to create something...go look at your pins. Get what you need and do it. That will keep you from collecting up crap in bin filling your laundry room. lol Just a thought.

Really cute but I have all sorts of 'plans' to craft and I don't. I agree with your plan to return to the GW if your not going to use it! hugs, Linda

I still have pillows and old sweaters for that pillow project from a few years ago...but I'm not going to get rid of them just yet. Part of my sessions with a wellness coach last summer was to incorporate more creativity into my life. Those sweater pillows are still on my list!

Patricia, Patricia! You didn't have to throw it away. Why did you not ask us how to fix it? You can buy fake glittery snow at the craft store. Michael's sells it in the floral department. I'm sure other stores do too.

Or you could have stuff it with polyfill or white glittery pom poms to look like little snowballs.

I certainly can relate on the need to declutter. If you've noticed, I've never shared my craft space on my blog. There is a reason for that. Too much stuff!

Thank you for the giggle today my friend. Better luck on your project next time!

Thanks for sharing your crafting adventure on my blog. I appreciate your visits each week!

I change my mind about projects all the time or I talk myself out of doing them. Either way they don't get done. I wish I was more efficient but I'm just not...I don't have enough time. So I'll just keep doing a random project here and there. Have a good week...no snow here either but it's cold.

I am not much into crafting. However, looks like you are going in the right direction.

Yes, I am culling my snowmen. I don't like snow, so why do I pay homage to things made of them? :)
Last year I made a snowman from a Pomi bottle! Perfect shape.
This year, I didn't even put them out.

I've not done much crafting this season either but sometimes it's just not there! We each move at our own pace so don't worry about it and just do what you do, it all will come together at the right time, do what you feel like doing and have fun!

the snow man looks kind of cute...well I abandoned a lot of projects that didn't turn out the way I imagined. So you did the right thing. Sometimes it is better to just buy some things off the shelf.
