Are you a shopper or a dropper?

Do you know Flylady?

http://flylady.net/

One of her favorite sayings that I've taken to heart ~
you can't organize clutter.

This was what my car looked like Friday before I dropped off my clutter donations at the DAV thrift store.

See this basket of ornaments? Can you tell some of them are still in the package? I bought those to put in an apothecary jar - like I saw on blogs last year. Nope, I didn't do that.

I know I could use that basket for something, but it had to go, too.

Remember those wreaths that swept blogland last year? Yep, I bought the ornaments  - that's them peeking over the big box - but I never bent my coat hanger to make the wreath either.

See the Halloween pillows? It hurt to donate those, but I really am downsizing.

Oh, and that big box is full of plastic Christmas balls. For a couple years, hubby climbed on a ladder - usually in the snow - to hang those on our only tree in the front yard. Did you hear that huge sigh of relief from hubby when I told him he wouldn't have to do that any more?

This was not my first car load.

The stores love to see me  ~  I'm either shopping or dropping (off stuff)!

Are you a shopper or a dropper?

I saw your other car load -- you really are getting rid of things! Good thing I don't live by you or I'd be shopping your car!

a shopper. Grammy.....this post is so cute. All those wonderful things we see on the blogs (and magazines)....want to make...buy the stuff.....and never get it done. I know that all too well. Today, it is gloomy, cold and rainy and I am making Easter stuff....LOL

Both. I buy it, and then I give it back, sometimes soon, sometimes later.
It is my own little recycling program. ;)

I am both too. I need to drop more and shop less!
Too much stuff!
I am sure your charity was happy to get all those good things. I dont know if I could have parted with the pillows.
They would have looked great on my covered porch wicker!

Thank you for visiting with me and taking the time to leave a kind comment....I shop more than I drop in all honesty....

I found the red pineapple corer in a kitchen store...my kitchen is red and white so red it was...

Hello Grammy...
I spotted your comment on Betty's Country Charm Blog so I thought I pop over and say hello. I love your expression 'shopper or dropper'. I have to admit that I'm the former, but in truth I should really be the latter. I am by nature a hoarder (I blame it onto being a war baby), I hang on to 'stuff' thinking it will come in handy or can be transformed into something else one day. Our attic is utter clutter, but Oh! it is so interesting to get up there, have a good ol' root around and reacquaint myself with things long forgotten. Your use of the word 'stuff' is so apt... such a wonderful 'collective' noun isn't it.

LOL, I just used that phrase this morning to Troy (You can't organize clutter)! I have been deep cleaning for the last few days and have had several bags filled with donation items. Tonight was the first time I have been in a thrift store since before Christmas! And I walked out with 4 salad plates for $1.75 and that was it! but, I have been donating left and right. It feels great too!

You are making someone in your town mighty happy with this donation!

For GW, I'm more of a dropper.

Hey there, sweet lady! I am both a shopper AND a dropper....when enough goes into my house, I have learned to turn some back in, lol! I love FlyLady too! Have an awesome uncluttered day!

I have a hard and fast rule. I buy only if the project is eminent. I just don't have the storage. If I see something at Goodwill, I make it work immediately. I leave a lot of ideas behind. A lot.

Dropper all the way. Can. not. stand. clutter. Nope, it has to go. Should we start a club, Declutters Anonymous? Heehee. Hugs ~ Mary

I've got a pile to donate and it's not my first either. I'm trying to clear the clutter and keep only what I love, which is still a lot!

I'm both a shopper and a dropper. I love to find great bargains, enjoy them for a little while, then "recycle" them by donating to the thrift store or having a yard sale. If you keep some flow going, the clutter doesn't build up. My rule of flow: when you bring home a load of thrifty bargains, a load of stuff needs to leave the house, too.

Loved this post! i'M a shopper, not a dropper. But I'm like you, I now have an awful lot of things that I really must clear out!!

I am constantly trying to de-clutter but (and you know this as a teacher) there always seems to be "*something* I could use that for." It's like a revolving door: I throw stuff out and then I get more stuff. It never seems to end. It's nice to see there is hope! Great job!!

Good for you!! I need to do this so badly...but it is overwhelming! I keep trying to put it off until spring at least...maybe I will have a giant garage sale!

I'm a shopper! The Flylady would shake her head in reproof if she knew me.

But good for you for unloading the ideas that never came to fruition. Mine are still here waiting for me!
