Postal Service?

Wednesday I went to the post office in an unnamed town - not mine - to pick up my parents' mail. It's being held while they're in FL. I had several packages to mail and also needed stamps.

Did you know that it is postal policy not to accept unsigned credit cards? Yeah, me neither. After waiting in line for ten minutes, I was unable to mail my packages/buy stamps because I never sign my credit cards. I had my driver's license, but the clerk still refused to accept my credit card.

Today I went to the post office where I live, armed with my check book. (No one knows me there, just so you know.) I asked her if she would take my unsigned credit card. "Of course," she said. "I just need to see your driver's license."

I mailed my packages, and I also bought a roll of the "forever" stamps. In case you don't know, the price goes up Sunday.

Do you sign your credit cards?

I never sign my credit cards either and have never had a problem as long as I show my ID. She just was a crabby apple seed.

How crazy is that! So frustrating. Glad you were finally able to get your packages mailed. I don't sign my cards either.

I don't sign mine. If you lose it and someone dishonest finds it, there is your signature to practice copying!

I do not sign my credit cards. Some people are just ridiculous. I went to my PO last week to mail a package to Spain. What a disaster. It took forever. I avoid the PO if at all possible!

I sign mine. And I also stock up on forever stamps. It costs a fortune to send mail now. I'm waiting for Christmas cards to go by the wayside and be replaced with emails. It's so much between the cards, stamps, thank you notes, more stamps...

I've certainly have never signed them. I can't believe she wouldn't take your card for that reason. How do they know if you signed it if you were calling by phone. So silly!

I understand you so well about post offices! Russian are known to be the worst on planet (that's why a lot of cool shops simple don't ship here) so I understand you so well about 'why the hell they didn't accept' or 'who the hell though this up' etc. Sorry to hear you had issues.

How dumb! No wonder they are having such trouble! Couldn't they look at your sweet face and tell that you are not a criminal or something! I have never had this problem even at a store. They usually allow me to sign the card or look at my license.
Tuesday is party time at my blog so join us if you can.-------Shannon

I never sign my credit cards, either. I always say, "Thank you for asking," when asked to show my driver's license. Fraud experts say that you should never sign your cards and just write See driver's license on the strip. That's crazy that they wouldn't accept it.

ohhhh yea i dont sign my credit card either :) i just write "see i.d' on it instead so they have to ask me for identification. my grandparents had a bad run in a few years back with some credit card fraud, so i am on my toes with this one (and i used to work at capital one in richmond years back haha!) :)
