What a Haul!

Do you know what this is in the back of our car? Notice how it's folded up and fits so well in our tiny space.

Did you guess right?

It's a jin-u-wine Radio Flyer All Terrain Wagon (ATW).

Look at those wheels. You can just tell this wagon really will go on any terrain, right?

The wooden base is in excellent shape.

When my husband and I saw it at a yard sale, we ran walked very quickly so I could grab the handle and stake my claim.

There was another woman standing near it so I was a little worried. I exclaimed, "Wow! Look at this wagon." I couldn't help myself. I felt like I had to give her a chance to say she had seen it first.

The following dialog from her had my husband and me laughing so hard. She said, "I had a wagon like that when I was a little girl. (Uh, oh. She has a sentimental attachment to it.I hate that wagon. (WHAT?) There were 3 of us girls and my mom would load us up in it and pull us to the A&P. "

She pulled off the front of it. She said she had to sit in front with her legs hanging over. She felt every bump. Then she and her sisters had to hold all the grocery bags on the trip back. I wish I had a tape recorder because there is no way I can tell you how funny she was. She kept repeating how much she hated that wagon. We were just rolling. (No pun intended.)

I texted my daughter to see if she wanted the wagon and she said--------no. Well, we weren't leaving without that wagon. We had to scrounge and pool our money (I'm setting the scene here for another post.) to pay the $20, which we thought was a very fair price.

I thought you might like to see how all the sides come off for easy loading in the car or for another use. We decided if she didn't need it to haul our grandkids to the grocery store around their neighborhood, then we could find other uses for it. If the kids aren't visiting us, then I can use it to haul those big bags of potting soil, or plants, or watering cans, or anything else I can think of.

We thought it was a great deal and a great start to our day of yard saling. Little did we know what else was in store. (Setting the scene again ~ foreshadowing.)

What was in your big yard sale haul?

Terrific find! I was pretty close with my guess - a cart of some kind. Too funny - I used to haul my kids to the grocery store in their Little Red Wagon when we lived less than a block away from the corner grocery. But I didn't load up, those were just little trips for onesie-twosie items. They shouldn't hate wagons from the experience!
In my yard sale quest this weekend, I found a Salad Shooter, a Samsonite suitcase, a cookbook and a jacket. Total spent: $6.

Nothing in yard sale finds, but did do some auction watching on Saturday and will post a blog in the next few days. We pretty much decided that for us now it's more fun to watch then spend as we are working through de-cluttering and don't want to backtrack now :-) You did come across a great find on your yard saling.

I wanted it, I wanted it! May borrow it in the future. I have a feeling William will want it instead of the PINK one. :)

Now THAT is a great buy! We have one of those plastic Little Tykes wagons that we bought back when our kids were small. We have used the heck out of it and just this past week broke the wheel off one side of the back. :( We used it for yard work, beach trips to lug to stuff to the water, to move heavy things in the house, even pulled a cooler of beer and sodas around at an outdoor festival/parade or two! lol Enjoy!

Oh wow i love your find. I would have grabbed it right away too. I think it would look great for holding your pots of plants and flowers too. The red side planks are fabulous! I missed your blog. Hope to go back to blogging soon. For now it's back to cleaning and packing...haha

hi Grammy ... Love your little red wagon. What a treasure and so useful.I had one of the real old ones that my son build a new base/bed for, but the side rails were good and it looked old. Sold in one of my many Garage Sales. Sorry now!
Thanks for stopping by Timeless Treasures and leaving a sweet comment on my antique wedding dress.
Blessings and keep having fun.

I would sure love to find one of those at a yard sale sometime! Today...I found yet another little child rocker...#3! They are so cute...and look so good on my bowling alley porch! 3 is enough...I doubt my husband would be to pleased if I start collecting small rocking chairs! (3 probably makes a collection now doesn't it?) I am hoping to find some goodies in the morning!
