Art Linkletter and Cate

I wonder how many bloggers are over 50.
You probably have to be to remember the
Art Linkletter Show and the episodes of
Kids Say the Darnedest Things.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCHIM-bGiTI

I know Cate says the darnedest things.
She always makes me laugh.

When we left her mommy this morning, she waved goodbye and said,
"Bye-bye. I love you. Have a good day at work."

Our first stop was Krispy Kreme.

I like this tradition we've started.

After our treat, I turned onto the highway.
She exclaimed,
"You remembered the shortcut."
(Last week I told her we were going to take a shortcut.)

Then, I took a wrong turn on our way to the park.

I never should have told Cate.
Cate told me her mommy was a good driver. Then she said,
"I'll have to tell my mommy you're not a good driver."
And I'm sure she won't forget to tell her either.

At the park, we saw a dog.

I told her it looked like one that we had just seen at the lake.
Then I added that I wasn't sure because I don't know a lot about dogs.
Cate assured me she did.
This was quite a surprise, since she doesn't have any pets.
She then told me that when you tell them to come, dogs come.
When dogs are tired, they fall asleep.
I guess that means I do know a lot about dogs.

We had a great time, staying almost 2 hours.
Lots of kids and parents were there.

One of the mothers brought bubbles and her son
generously gave Cate a bottle to play with.

Can you tell how hot it was from this picture?
She's tired and hot, but she doesn't want to go home.
Notice the sunglasses.
She forgot hers and had to wear an extra pair I had in the car.

When we got home, she walked in the kitchen and said,
"Everything looks great, Mimi. You must have cleaned a lot."
(I actually had.)

She sat down beside me and told me I was scratchy.
(She told me the same thing last week,
so I made sure I shaved my legs this morning.)
I told her that my legs were smooth.
She rubbed them and said they were smooth,
but the top of me (above the knees) was still scratchy.

Popsicles are another tradition at our house as a treat after
playing outside.

I suggested we have one after she watched a show and
before she took a nap.
She said, "That's a really good idea."

"I'm not tired," she said -
then asked for her blanket.

Can you see it in this picture?

She sang and talked for about 15 minutes
before she fell asleep.

See why I enjoy my days with Cate so much.

She seems just precious. And if she likes doughnuts, clearly a smart girl too

Kids "do" say the darnest things. I loved Art. Your Cate is adorable. The funny things she says. She reminds me of one of my granddaughters. So smart. They are so much fun, aren't they.

Oh, what a precious post! I enjoyed it very much. It sounds as if she takes everything in an remembers it. She'll probably be 22 and remind you of the day that you guys got lost going to the park, lol.

Thanks so much for stopping by to say hi!
