Peer Pressure

I tried a few summer projects but I never posted about them. I suppose I can save them for next year. I just hope turquoise is still the color of choice.

I did a table setting for the Fourth of July.

I bought materials to decorate for back to school, but all I managed to make was this wreath.

I bought a chair to redo.

I bought wooden plaques to repurpose into plaques with clever sayings.

I did all of this because I wanted to be like other bloggers. But I can't keep up. This week I'll be with my parents two days, keep Cate one day, spend Saturday in Lane Stadium for the first football game of the season (which means a lot of preparation for tailgating), my son and his girlfriend will be here for the week-end, and Sunday we'll go to Smith Mountain Lake with family.

Let me be honest and remind you that I'm retired and don't have small children at home. How do the rest of you do all these things?

Really love the little teal shelf with the shells on it - one of my favorite colors!

I'm like you, I wonder how in the world bloggers get so much accomplished.

Have fun tailgating! Have I told you that I'm a Hokie??

We'll be at the lake on Sunday. Hope it's a pretty day!

Thanks for stopping by today! Yes, we are feeling the same way about keeping up! If blogging/reading other blogs inspires us to do even one simple thing to help us, whether it be decorating, cleaning, organizing, spiritual...then that is awesome, BUT, if we feel like we have to keep up and can NEVER accomplish all that we see others doing, then we are making WRONG comparisons that will hurt us deeply! I want to do things because I am inspired and excited, not out of a competitive attitude. Everything you have created is absolutely lovely! The colors, oh I am loving that turquoise and don't have one spot of it in my house! I just want to make my home beautiful! Even if nobody ever notices! (although it IS nice when they do) I have made SO many things I've seen around blogland...and haven't shown them all either! Time to change our motivations, isn't it?! I am right there with you! HUGS!

Oh I wish you weren't feeling the peer pressure! But I do know what you mean. Personally, I like reading about your granddaughter and family and stuff like that. I have found that when I'm blogging about things I actually care about, I'm happier, and my readers pick up on it too. Don't worry about being like other bloggers; we like YOU! :)

I can't keep up either and I'm like you retired! Also older and not as much energy as some of the younger folks. Oh well, I do what I can and enjoy it! Love the shelf...pretty color to highlight shells!

I think it's because you've been so busy winning giveaways and visiting other people's blogs :)
I do love the shelf, though...

Hi Grammy. I loved all your little bits today, so you do have talent. I'm like you, some bloggers seem to be so talented in all sorts of ways. But I don't mind. I can appreciate them all, but will just continue to write about things important to me. I agree that if you write from the heart, people really seem to respond to that.

Hi Grammy! Thanks so much for the award -- delay in thanking you was caused by computer problems. Anyway, I hope turquoise is still in because I have a small can sitting in a cupboard that I got free from Glidden.com this past spring and I have a project in mind for it. I too and sometimes overwhelmed by the projects that get completed in blogland. I only work part-time and have a very self-sufficient teenager.
